Change of ownership with Polestar Connect

In the event of a change of ownership, there are some steps that need to be taken to unlink the previous owner and give the new owner access to Polestar Connect.

Selling a car equipped with Polestar Connect

The previous owner should take the following steps:
Deactivate the link between the car and the Polestar 1 app.
Reset the settings in the centre display – select factory reset.

Buying a car equipped with Polestar Connect

The new owner needs to take the following steps:
Contact a delivery center for assistance to transfer the remaining time from the previous owner's Polestar Connect subscription. An extension will need to be purchased if the subscription has expired. The delivery center automatically generates a PIN code via email or SMS. Keep the PIN code in a safe place.
Connect the Polestar 1 app to the car.

Change of owner when changing country

When a car is purchased and imported to a different country, the owner should take care to visit a delivery center in the country in which the car was purchased. They should then delete all customer data in their systems. In the country to which the car is imported, the owner should contact a delivery center for help with starting the Polestar Connect service.
