The Experimental Polestar 2

In the fairy tale, there’s a beauty and a beast, but in this story, the beauty was inspired by a beast, and it takes electric performance to the next level.

For the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and at the First Glance Paddock, we have revealed an experimental version of our electric performance vehicle, the Polestar 2.

“I challenged the design and engineering teams to play with Polestar 2 and come up with something that makes a strong statement for Goodwood,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

The car was inspired by another experimental Polestar which has been given the nickname “Beast”.  This car is finished in Snow Matte with a Magnesium Matte racing stripe, colour-coded front grid, and glossy black mirrors. Front and rear bumpers as well as the side skirts have been updated while the wheels, taken from our electric performance hybrid, feature glossy and matte black surfaces.

The car, which will be piloted by Polestar’s lead chassis engineer, Joakim Rydholm, has been upgraded to Öhlins three-way performance dampers which are approximately 30% stiffer than the road and track originals and the lower ride height makes for astronger stance. To further increase rigidity, the carbon fibre front suspension strut bar from a Volvo S60 Polestar Engineered has been fitted, complemented by a custom-fabricated rear strut bar.

Like living a fairy tale, attendees at Goodwood this year have seen how the boundaries of the electric performance can be pushed, a beast that is beautiful.

Car design is continually evolving, driven by innovation and advancements in technology that enhance safety, efficiency, and aesthetics. However, the impact of groundbreaking design is felt beyond the driver. Automotive design must be approached with a wider lens, not just beauty for the sake of beauty, but also considering how it can positively impact people and planet. Polestar’s recent awards tally at the prestigious 2024 Australian Good Design Awards event in Sydney highlights the impact of this philosophy.
