Transparency
We want to be fully transparent about sustainability, so you get the information you need to make informed, ethical choices.

Making real progress
From climate-neutrality to supply chain traceability and sustainability labeling, transparency is a key enabler to making real world progress.
Climate-neutrality
Carbon footprint reporting
The Polestar 2 Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) reveals the car's lifetime carbon footprint, covering emissions from materials production, manufacturing and logistics, use phase, and end of life. The report also includes the methodology we used.
See more about the LCAThe power of transparency
By being completely transparent about our methods and progress toward a climate-neutral future, we aim to set a standard that others who want to make similar claims must follow.
Polestar 2 Life Cycle Assessments
We're fully transparent about all greenhouse gas emissions from cradle to grave, so you can make an informed choice.
Supply chain traceability
Ethically sourcing raw materials
We're working to change how minerals are extracted and processed. We want them to be mined responsibly, with respect for human rights, local communities, and ecosystems. We currently trace cobalt using blockchain. More risk materials will follow.
Bringing blockchain to the supply chain
Using blockchain software supplied by our partner, Circulor, we can accurately track cobalt throughout our entire supply chain. This means its source, and the methods by which it's extracted, processed and transported, can be regulated.
Sustainability labeling
Product sustainability declarations
You can find product sustainability declarations on our website and in Polestar Spaces. They currently disclose our cars' cradle-to-gate carbon footprint and traced risk materials. The next step is to develop these declarations by including more sustainability metrics such as recycled content.

How we define sustainability
We take a holistic approach to sustainability, according to the scope set out by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We continuously reassess and take action on all of our material issues, to ensure that we strive toward a positive impact.
