Perched on the cliffs of the El Tajo canyon is the city of Ronda. With a history stretching back to the Neolithic age, it’s a city bursting with historical sites. Only about an hour’s drive from Marbella, it offers visitors a change of pace from the packed beaches and hustle and bustle of southern Spain’s big cities. While the destination of Ronda should be on everyone’s bucket list, the road there is just as important.

Describing the experience of driving the A-397 from Marbella to Ronda is an exercise in resisting excessive use of hyperbole and eye-catching adjectives. Known for its extraordinary views, the road ascends the side of a mountain, surrounded by towering cliffs and deep valleys. The road has excellent paving, a mix of sharp bends and longer well-turned curves, straightaways, and places to stop and take in the views. Ronda is also home to the famous Circuit Ascari where we have had test drives of our limited-edition Polestar 2.
