Polestar wins four prestigious design awards
There are all types of awards out there. The Foot in Mouth Award, The Golden Bagel Award and IG Nobel Prize, just to mention a few. While we haven’t won any of these particular accolades, we have received our share of awards. The latest celebrate our approach to design.
On September 21, we were thrilled to find out that we had won the Product Design category in Fast Company’s 10th anniversary of the Innovation by Design Awards with the Polestar 2.
One of the most sought-after design awards in the industry, the Innovation by Design Award recognises the people, companies, and trends that have steadily advanced design, aiming to solve the problems of today and tomorrow.
The car was judged based on crucial innovation elements like functionality, originality, beauty, sustainability, and user insight, as well as cultural and business impact. Fast Company’s senior writer, Mike Wilson, described the Polestar 2 as “one of the most exciting EVs on the planet”.
Later that same evening, we won multiple accolades in EyesOn Design Awards 2021. The Awards celebrate great transportation designs. This year’s edition had car brands competing in four categories, with Polestar Precept winning three of them: Best Concept Vehicle; Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, or Materials; and Best Designed Interior.
“Winning Fast Company's Innovation by Design award and EyesOn Design Awards means a great deal to us,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “Polestar is a design-led brand and with sustainable design firmly embedded in our core, I truly believe that this is the number one thing that should drive and shape a modern car brand.”
Polestar 2 has received over 40 awards since its global launch, for design and performance (like Red Dot Awards, “Best of the Best” in the Product Design), to embodying our holistic approach to sustainability (such as Product Innovation of the Year by sustainability media platform edie or Sustainability Award at the Think Global Awards).
There are numerous awards we haven’t won (and plenty we don’t even want to win). But the accolades we have received so far all resonate with our core values: design, innovation, performance, and sustainability.
