Cleaner air and cleaner streets on Earth Day

April 22, 2022 marks the 52nd anniversary of the global environmental movement known as Earth Day. Launched in America in 1970, it was (in part) a reaction to the massive consumption of leaded gas for automobiles, and the air pollution that followed.

Half a century later, our society still struggles with the consequences of exhaust emissions, with public data showing that transport worldwide accounts for over a fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions. While the EV revolution is underway, the transition is not happening fast enough. We need to work on all fronts to accelerate the shift to a greener, cleaner future.Businesses and consumers alike. As an electric car company, our efforts have been focused on reducing emissions from the beginning. This Earth Day, we've turned our attention to another car-related area: the streets. In the spirit of this year's Earth Day theme, "Invest in our Planet", we'd like to encourage people to invest some time into learning more about the environmental (and financial) benefits of EVs, ways you can contribute to the green energy transition, and what you can do to influence the shift towards cleaner, more sustainable mobility.  Similarly, Polestar employees around the globe are encouraged to invest their time in street clean-up initiatives around our local offices and surrounding areas. As a business, we've taken several important steps on the way towards a more sustainable future and will continue to do so until we reach climate-neutral mobility. In fact, the Polestar 2 is a significant step in the right direction, with less than half the carbon impact of an internal combustion engine car, if charged with green energy. Our mission is to make the globe a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable place. And the more who share this vision, the faster we'll get there. There's no reason to hesitate, with heaps of sustainable solutions and lots of litter to pick up out there. Or rather, heaps of litter and lots of sustainable solutions. Either way, let's invest some time in protecting the planet today.
