Buying and selling a vehicle with Polestar Connect

If the vehicle changes owners, it is important to reset all personal settings and user data in the vehicle to the original factory defaults.

Canceling the Polestar Connect service

If the vehicle changes owners, contact Polestar Customer Support to cancel the service. The subscription will then be terminated and the service history deleted. The service can also be canceled using the Polestar 1 app.

If the vehicle changes owners, it is important to reset all personal settings and user data in the vehicle to the original factory defaults. This is done via the Settings menu in the center display.

Polestar ID is personal and does not need to be changed or deleted when the vehicle is sold. However, ownership does need to be canceled and the link between the Polestar 1 app and the vehicle deleted.

Change of ownership to another country

When a vehicle is purchased and imported to another country, it is important that the owner visits a delivery center in the country in which the vehicle was purchased. The retailer will then delete all customer data in their systems. The owner should then contact a delivery center in the country in which the vehicle is imported for assistance starting the Polestar Connect service.

Starting the Polestar Connect service

If you purchase a previously owned vehicle with Polestar Connect:

The new owner should contact Polestar Customer Support to transfer the remaining time on the subscription to the new owner. If this has not already been done, Polestar Customer Support will delete all of the previous owner's information. All contact details must be updated for Polestar Connect to function and to ensure the previous owner is no longer authorized to use Polestar Connect services in the vehicle.

Polestar Customer Support will inform the new owner of the status of the vehicle's Polestar Connect subscription. The new owner will receive a personal four-digit PIN code that will be required for the owner (or another authorized person) to access certain services. If the owner doesn't already have a Polestar ID, this will need to be created so that the Polestar 1 app can then be linked to the vehicle.
