So, where does this journey begin?

Above all else, the important first step is simply making every customer feel welcomed. This may be a friendly greeting from our team when walking into one of our spaces, or it could be a follow up phone call from an online enquiry. As simple as it sounds, a warm welcome can be a breath of fresh air for anyone who, up until this point, may already have had to navigate some confusing and unfamiliar EV territory. We place importance on a good first impression because we want you to feel comfortable and know that you’re in capable hands.

Chris Cameron, Senior Space Specialist at Polestar Chadstone, has helped numerous customers through their test drive journeys, and onto purchasing their first Polestar. In many cases, this has also been their first introduction to electric vehicles. He notes how understanding each customer’s unique wants and needs gives his team the tools they need to get every customer in the driver’s seat of the Polestar best suited to them.

“We’ll sit down and have a one-on-one consultation with you, which is really an introduction to Polestar, so you can explore the features and benefits, as well as understand EV driving and what you want to get out of your car,” he says.

During this consultation process, space specialists like Chris take the time to get to know you through meaningful conversation, to piece together what your perfect car looks like. The consultation allows specialists to ask important questions about driving habits, where the vehicle will be parked and how it will be charged. Our specialists go the extra mile to explain what EV ownership looks like and how it can seamlessly integrate into your daily lives. 

These conversations also help the team shape the vehicle walk-around, which happens just before the test drive. A walk-around highlights all the essential features, as well as specific features that are relevant to you, based on the earlier consultation. This is often the first time most people have driven an electric vehicle, so ensuring you’re comfortable with features like one-pedal driving and adaptive cruise control before heading off on the test drive is paramount to a positive experience and of course, your safety on the road.

“After the consultation, we’ll do a walk-around and pay some attention to the design of the vehicle, how the vehicle will drive, as well as some of the features like our Google integration,” says Chris.

Once the walk around is complete, it’s time to take the Polestar out on a test drive. Polestar gives you the choice between taking the car out on your own, or having a specialist accompany you. A standard test drive goes for around a half hour, however extended test drives can be considered upon request. Ultimately, the test drive is adapted so you’re able to get exactly what you need out of it.

“We work closely with you to make sure that the test drive fits within your needs, so you can take the car and explore it within your environment and how the car would work within your lifestyle,” says Chris.

Test drives usually follow a pre-programmed route, carefully designed to cover a range of different driving scenarios so that the car’s full potential can be explored. Of course, this can be customised. People have found it useful to drive the car to a specific nearby location if they know they will be using their vehicle there regularly. This could even include your own home – it might be as simple as checking that the car fits in your driveway!
