BST edition 270: the performance-oriented Polestar 2
Performance is relative. For most people, running 100 m in 20 seconds would be remarkable. For Usain Bolt, it would be a disappointment. Polestar 2, with its holistic, intuitive, highly engineered driving experience, is already a performance EV by many standards. With the release of Polestar 2 BST edition 270, there’s now a version which brings that performance to an entirely new level.
Based on the Experimental Polestar 2 that turned heads and won hearts at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Polestar 2 BST edition 270 is a limited edition, performance-oriented version of Polestar 2. Only 270 will be made for Europe and North America.
“This is a fun and exciting moment for Polestar,” says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “We were really encouraged by the enthusiastic reception we received for the Experimental car, and I have enjoyed driving my own modified Polestar 2 in the last year, which inspired our Goodwood concept in the first place. It was clear we needed to put a special, more performance-oriented Polestar 2 into production.”
Building on the two electric motors and 78 kWh of the Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor version with Performance pack, and Polestar’s performance software upgrade, the BST edition 270 has a power output of 350 kW (476 hp) and 680 Nm of torque, along with heightened responsiveness and sportier dynamics.
Other modifications include a 25 mm-lower stance, unique Öhlins two-way adjustable dampers with auxiliary adjustment chambers, 20% stiffer springs and unique new matte black 21-inch alloy wheels, inspired by those sported by its electric hybrid relative. Tyres are 245/35R21 Pirelli P Zero, developed specifically for this car. The standard 4-piston Brembo brakes remain.
And though it’s what’s on the inside that counts, the exterior also sports some modifications meant to emphasise the car’s performance-oriented nature.
Available in either Thunder or Snow, with colour-matched bumpers and side skirts, BST edition 270 is adorned in a custom livery consisting of a full-length body stripe in contrasting finish. Side mirrors are finished in glossy black. The signature “Swedish gold” details featured in the existing Performance pack remain, including on the brake callipers, damper elements, valve caps and seatbelts.
Polestar Chengdu will build the BST edition 270, accustomed as they are to producing low volume cars such as Polestar 1.
Performance isn’t an absolute value. Polestar 2 defines it one way. Polestar 2 BST edition 270 defines it in another.

Accountability is key. To combat the growing tide of greenwashing, greenhushing, and all the other buzzwords that denote a lack of transparency around sustainability work, we need to hold each other responsible. Successes and failures need to be communicated. Questions need to be asked and answers demanded. We need hard data when it comes to exactly what it is we’re doing, and what we have left to do. And when requiring these things from others, we can’t forget ourselves.
