The emergency 12 V supply terminal
The emergency 12 V supply terminal can be used by service technicians to access the vehicle if it has discharged batteries and is unresponsive.
If your vehicle has a total loss of power and the doors can't be opened, the 12 V terminal can be accessed externally and used to power the vehicle for a short time. Polestar recommends that the 12 V terminal only be used by service technicians for the purpose of accessing the vehicle as part of immobilization recovery.
Important
Before using the 12 V terminal, consider the following:
- Do not use the 12 V terminal yourself – wait for a service technician.
- Only use a 12 V charger with a maximum charging current below 30 A.
- Connecting any power source that delivers a current higher than 30 A will blow the terminal fuse and thus disable it.
- Only use the 12 V terminal for short amounts of time. It is not meant as a means of powering the vehicle continuously.
The 12 V terminal is accessed by opening the rectangular panel located in front of the left-side wheel housing. Behind the panel, there are two red cables for the positive terminal and one black cable for the negative terminal. The black cable is positioned slightly higher and may need to be gently pulled down to be used. Hold the two red cables together when connecting them to an external power source.
