Adaptive cruise control communication and status

Learn how adaptive cruise control's status is communicated in the car.

The driver display shows the status of adaptive cruise control using graphics and symbols. Important information can also appear as notifications.

Communication in surround mode

When the driver display shows the surround display mode, adaptive cruise control's status and actions are shown as animations. The animations can show what level of support adaptive cruise control is currently providing, depending on your adaptive cruise control settings. This may include speed-keeping, distance-keeping and adjusting the speed to other vehicles ahead.

Using surround mode

Surround mode cannot perfectly depict what is really happening on the road around you, so do not rely on it when you are driving.

Communication with symbols

When the driver display shows the calm or map display mode, adaptive cruise control's status is communicated using symbols. The symbols can show what level of support adaptive cruise control is currently providing, depending on your active adaptive cruise control settings.

Adaptive cruise control is active without providing steering assistance.
Some symbols show how your current actions affect adaptive cruise control.
You are adjusting the target distance interval to a vehicle ahead with the steering wheel control buttons.
You are overriding the set target speed by pressing down on the accelerator pedal.

Notifications and messages

When using adaptive cruise control, notifications can appear in the driver display. They can contain important information about the status of adaptive cruise control features as well as instructions for you to follow.
