Stopping AC charging
You can stop the charging process at any time.
Important
Stop the charging session before attempting to unplug the cable from the car's charging port. If you do not, you may cause damage to the cable or to the system.
Make sure the car is unlocked.
Press Stop charging in the centre display to stop charging.
The charging is stopped and the cable unlocks from the charging port.
Unplug the charging cable from the car.
If available, reattach the protective cover on the cable connector.
Depending on the cable you have used:
- Unplug the charging cable from the charging station.
- Reattach the charging cable to the station's storage socket.
Press Close charge port in the centre display to close the charging lid.
Note
You can also close the charging lid by pressing the button located on the right-hand side of the inside of the port.
When the charging cable is unplugged from the car, the lid is automatically closed after a short period of time. If you start driving and the charging lid is open, it closes automatically.
However, there are also situations where the charging lid doesn’t close automatically. If you remove the charging cable but the car is in sleep mode and no key is detected close to the car, the charging lid may stay open until the car is woken up.

You can also stop the charging process from the charging station or from the Polestar app.
