Polestar 4 is an electric performance SUV coupé.

In order to maximise its effectiveness, we have chosen to optimise its launch in two phases – starting in China first and then other markets. Part of this efficiency is tied to how cars get certified for different markets, the lead times involved and the ability to bring a new car to market in the best way.

In previous years we have typically optimised launching for Europe first. This time we chose to prioritise China not only due to the volume potential of the car, but it’s also the logical way forward as we have worked so closely with Geely on the project.

Polestar 4 will be revealed at the Shanghai motor show April 2023, and open for orders in China. All other markets will see a launch in 2024, we will share more information at a later date.

We expect Q4 2023 for China. For all other markets, during 2024, more details will be shared after launch in 2024.

The official range and energy consumption will be certified and published at a later date. At launch, we have targets of up to 600 km WLTP - 717 km CLTC - 300 miles EPA.

Other than the Standard range Single motor with 88 kWh battery, infotainment related functionality, charging capabilities, and some driver assistance functions, the car is the same for all markets.

Deliveries in China are expected in Q4 2023. Deliveries in all other markets are planned through the course of 2024, following the official launch for all other markets.

Hangzhou Bay, China. Production is planned to start towards the end of 2023 for China. For all other markets, production will commence through the course of 2024, in the same factory.

This design cue was first shown on the Precept concept car, and we bring it to life now in Polestar 4. The removal of the rear window allows the rear header to be pushed further back and the panoramic glass roof to stretch behind the rear occupants. This results in an incredibly spacious and airy interior ambience and improved head room.

The rear-view mirror is a high-definition screen that shows a high-definition camera feed from the roof of the car. It can also be switched into a traditional mirror if the driver needs to see rear occupants for any reason. The biggest difference compared to a conventional mirror is that there are no obstructions like rear headrests or passengers, and the rearward view is expansive. This is something to get used to and becomes natural after a short while.

There is still enough space to have a dog or other pet in the rear luggage compartment of Polestar 4. If more light is preferred, you can remove the divider shelf behind the rear seat and/or fold the seats in 60/40 which will allow more light from the rest of the cabin into the luggage compartment.
