Warnings when exiting the vehicle

To make exiting the vehicle safer, your vehicle can warn you of traffic approaching from behind so that you don't open a door in its path.

When the vehicle detects traffic that is about to pass close to the vehicle's sides, such as approaching cyclists, vehicles or scooters, a light appears in the door mirror. If you begin to open the door on the side of the detected traffic, the door opening alert intensifies and a sound alert can be heard along with the light in the door mirror.

These alerts can be provided when the vehicle is stationary or moving very slowly1.

 Tip

Door opening alerts and blind spot information

Door opening alerts are shown in the same way as blind spot alerts. These two features rely on the same detection system.

Limitations

The vehicle uses its rear-facing cameras to detect approaching traffic. Be sure to read the separate section of this manual about the limitations of camera detection.

 Important

Door opening alerts are supplements to safe user practices. The driver and passengers are fully responsible for making sure that the vehicle doors can be safely opened.
