Electrifying acceleration

The combined maximum power from the petrol engine, the electric motors and the Integrated Starter Generator is 600 hp/441 kW. Maximum torque is an impressive 1,000 Nm. This gets you from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Pure, progressive performance.

High-performance engine

The combustion engine in the Polestar 1 is a high-performance petrol in-line four-cylinder engine. At low engine speeds, a supercharger compresses and forces air into the cylinders. This minimises turbo lag until the engine reaches 3,500 rpm, when the turbocharger takes over.

77 miles on a single charge
Polestar 1 has three lithium-ion batteries that provide 34 kWh and an approximate range of 77 miles in pure electric mode*. That's the longest range of any hybrid.

Optimising the drive

Steep inclines. Hairpin turns. Extreme off-road conditions. The Hällered Proving Ground test track has it all. Perfect for testing Polestar 1's grip and steering responsiveness and calibrating the software that controls the torque vectoring.

How to calculate a feeling
“In theory you could build a perfect car virtually by just feeding a machine numbers and calculations. But we're not making cars for virtual customers. We're making cars for real people.”

Joakim Rydholm, Chief Test Engineer

Torque talk

Many cars promise torque vectoring, but few genuinely deliver. No brakes. No mechanical limited slip differential. Polestar 1's twin electric motors on the rear axle adapt the power to each rear wheel. Get agile, reactive steering, and excellent grip and stability around corners.

* In Europe all electric vehicles are measured against a standardized metric for range. The Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) measures the range of a car travelling at an average speed of 30mph in summer temperatures from a 100% to 0% state of charge. The actual range achieved under real conditions varies depending on driving behaviour and other external factors. The certified WLTP range is therefore normally not achievable in real life. Please learn more about WLTP here.
