Two decades of success

With more than 100 victories, 220 podiums and over 90 pole positions since 1996, Polestar Cyan Racing is the most successful STCC team ever. In total, we won eight team titles and seven driver titles by Jan “Flash” Nilsson, Tommy Rustad, Thed Björk and Richard Göransson.

Polestar Cyan Racing has participated in all but one STCC seasons, since its inception in 1996 and many drivers have both initiated and crowned their successful international careers with us – such as Mattias Ekström, Jens Edman and Edward Sandström to name a few.

Volvo has always contributed with the car models, starting with the 850, continuing with the S40 and C30, and ending in 2016 with the S60. Our experiences and successes on the race track have also led to many products for optimising privately owned Volvo cars.

Double victory in 2016

Our ambition for 2016 was to take our fourth double title – which we also succeeded in superior style. For already at the penultimate race weekend we had secured the teams’ championship and in the last race Richard Göransson won the drivers’ title – after a tough battle with his Polestar Cyan Racing team-mate, Robert Dahlgren.

During the season, the two took turns winning races. The final scores were 307 points, Göransson, 300 points, Dahlgren. Göransson was a full 57 points ahead of the third-place driver. Prince Carl Philip, the third team driver, had his best season so far.

From track to road

From inception, our strategy has been take the lessons learned from the race track and develop optimised products for privately owned Volvo cars. We started by optimising the powertrain, but now produce brakes, suspension, aerodynamics and other products for standard Volvo cars.
