Jan ”Flash” Nilsson

Jan “Flash” Nilsson is Polestar’s first race winner and champion, winning the team’s two first STCC seasons in 1996 and 1997. “Flash” founded the company in 1996 and still holds the record of most victories in the team, 30, and the most successive STCC race victories with six during the 1997 STCC season. The Swede had several memorable race and title fights during the heydays days of STCC with drivers like Roberto Colciago and Fredrik Ekblom.

Jens Edman

Jens Edman became the second driver ever to race for Polestar, making his STCC debut at mid-point of the 1998 Swedish Touring Car Championship season in the team’s second Volvo S40. After one year absent from the team, Edman returned in 2001 and scored three victories, finishing third overall, just three points behind team mate “Flash”.

Mattias Ekström

Future DTM champion Mattias Ekström joined Polestar for the 2000 season. Ekström drove a strong season to finish third overall with three victories, before joining DTM with Audi the year after to start his international racing career.

Kelvin Burt

British racing ace Kelvin Burt made a one-off appearance for Polestar in the 2000 STCC season finale, facing stiff competition with a 27-car field of the best drivers in Sweden and other international talents such as David Leslie and Christian Abt. Burt had raced for Volvo in the British Touring Car Championship three years earlier together with Rickard Rydell.

Rickard Rydell

Legendary Volvo driver Rickard Rydell made a one-off appearance for Polestar in the 2001 STCC season finale, scoring a podium finish in the very last race at Mantorp Park. Rydell drove for Volvo in the British Touring Car Championship from 1994 to 1999, winning the title in 1998, and the European Touring Car Championship in 2001.

Edward Sandström

Edward Sandström drove two seasons for Polestar, 2002 and 2005, and scored five victories during his 26 races in total with the team. The Swede finished fourth in the championship on both years, but with 2002 being his most successful year with four victories.

Magnus Krokström

Magnus Krokström joined the team for the 2003 season, the first year of the new S2000 regulations. The Swede claimed one podium finish in 2003 but drove an independently run Volvo S40 in the year before where he finished second overall in the privateers championship.

Robert Dahlgren

Robert Dahlgren joined Polestar in 2004 and has driven for the team since then, making the longest contracted Volvo factory driver in the world. The Swede won his first ever race for the team in the 2004 STCC and claimed the 2010 Scandinavian Touring Car Cup title for Polestar. Dahlgren holds the record of most pole positions ever in the STCC with 36.

Alexander Storckenfeldt

Alexander Storckenfeldt came straight from single seater racing when joining Polestar in 2006. The Swede raced for the team for two seasons and claimed one victory, driving the Volvo S60 S2000 with a bio-ethanol engine.

Tommy Rustad

Tommy Rustad joined Polestar in 2008, making his STCC debut in the all-new Volvo C30 S2000 together with Robert Dahlgren. A year later and the Norwegian claimed the 2009 STCC title after a controversial season finish where he finished on the same points as rival driver, and soon to be team mate, Thed Björk. Rustad raced for Polestar for five years and scored ten STCC race victories during that time.

James Thompson

Multiple BTCC champion James Thompson joined Polestar for the 2011 STCC season as team mate to Tommy Rustad, driving the Volvo C30 S2000. The Brit scored two podium finishes before his contract was ended early after a mutual agreement between Polestar and Thompson.

Gabriele Tarquini

Former Formula 1 driver and multiple touring car champion Gabriele Tarquini made a brief appearance for Polestar in the 2011 STCC season. The four races was a preparation for the planned 2012 WTCC project, a project which was halted.

Fredrik Ekblom

Triple STCC champion Fredrik Ekblom joined Polestar for the inaugural TTA – Racing Elite League season in 2012. Success was imminent as Ekblom secured the drivers’ title in style. Ekblom holds the record of most podium finishes ever in the STCC with 86.

Thed Björk

Thed Björk joined Polestar in 2012 and after a first tentative season the Swede quickly left his mark the following year. Björk secured the 2013 STCC title in style with eight out of 12 victories and followed it up by winning the 2014 STCC title as well. The Swede has got the highest victory percentage among the Polestar drivers with 38%.

Linus Ohlsson

Young Linus Ohlsson joined Polestar in 2013 after an impressive TTA season the year before where he was the only driver able to challenge Polestar driver Fredrik Ekblom for the title. The Swede claimed two victories for Polestar in the 2013 season and finished fourth overall.

Carl Philip Bernadotte

Prince Carl Philip made his STCC debut with Polestar in 2013, starting a three-year programme with the team. The Swede has made strong progress with the team, keeping in mind that he started his racing career in 2008 at the age of 29. Prince Carl Philip finished 12th overall in the 2014 STCC with seventh as best result.

Scott McLaughlin

Scott McLaughlin quickly left his mark on the V8 Supercars with Volvo Polestar Racing in 2014 by qualifying second in their debut race weekend and kept the position in the race after a massive fight with reigning champion Jamie Whincup. The young Kiwi kept the pace up throughout the 2014 season, scoring four victories, ten podium finishes and ten pole positions.

Alexandre Prémat

Alexandre Prémat was co-driver to Scott McLaughlin during the endurance races of the 2014 V8 Supercars and has previously raced in the DTM, as well as securing the 2006 A1GP title. The Frenchman showed strong form during his stints and secured one podium finish together with McLaughlin in the Surfers Paradise race.

Greg Ritter

Greg Ritter was co-driver to Robert Dahlgren during the endurance races of the 2014 V8 Supercars. The Australian has got vast experience of V8 Supercars, making his debut in the championship in 1999.
