Charging at a public charging station

It’s easy to plan your route and find charging stations along your way. Google Maps comes as standard in the Polestar 2, so you always have access to the latest real-time traffic and navigation information. And if you link your Google account to your Polestar, you can plan ahead on your laptop or phone. All your searches and favourites appear automatically in the infotainment system.

Save travel time by charging twice

If you’re taking a long trip and need to stop and recharge your batteries en route, it can actually be faster and more efficient to stop twice, charging to 80% each time, than to stop once and fully charge the battery. This is because the final 20% capacity of a lithium-ion battery charges at a much slower rate. Stop more. Charge less. Get there quicker.

Charging time is useful time

Charging time doesn’t have to be lost time. The Polestar 2’s Android-powered infotainment system turns the car into an office you can work in, a den you can hang out in, and, in the near future, a shop you can buy things in. The car comes with three years of unlimited internet connectivity so you can navigate, stream music and enjoy its other smart functionalities as much as you like.

How cold weather affects range

Cold weather affects the performance of all electric cars. We test our cars in a very harsh environment: Arjeplog. This town in the north of Sweden offers stable, sub-zero conditions for several months a year, allowing us to put each Polestar component through an effective stress test and optimise the car for all conditions.

A great way to extend your car’s range on a cold day is to warm up the interior in advance, so the energy-intensive heating takes place while your car is charging, not while you’re driving. Polestar electric cars also use a Smart Battery Management system that automatically modifies the battery’s output to deliver the most efficient performance for the atmospheric conditions.
