Driving, redefined

People often wonder if an electric car can give them the feel of a petrol car. Far from a compromise, modern electric cars redefine the way you appreciate performance. Like the breathtaking speed with which they respond, and the smooth, uncomplicated way they deliver power. It won’t take long before you forget all about things like the clutch, downshifting or turbo lag.

One-pedal drive explained

When you take your foot off the accelerator in a conventional car, nothing much happens except for a slight decrease in speed. In an electric car with one-pedal drive, lifting your foot engages regenerative braking: the car uses its own kinetic energy to slow down, and converts the car’s speed back into reusable energy, prolonging your range. The braking effect can range from gentle to quite dramatic, depending on which level you’ve set it to. You do still need to use the brake pedal for emergency stops, though.

Powerful and practical

Performance is about more than just straight-line acceleration and responsive handling. Many electric cars are more than capable of meeting the needs of active lifestyles. Some models, like the Polestar 2, have the option to include a tow bar. And with no engine in the front, you usually get quite a lot of storage space to carry everything you need on a long drive or holiday. Don’t forget that fueling is also convenient, with plenty of opportunities to top up the battery for daily use, and a well-developed public charging infrastructure for longer journeys.
