Polestar’s Security Team is an experienced and highly qualified group that provides services in the areas of safeguards and security policy development, planning, and implementation. Physical Security

Several team members have a unique and comprehensive understanding of nuclear plant security programs and have performed assessments for vulnerabilities and compliance to the new NRC design basis threat(DBT). We also conduct security threat and vulnerability analyses to determine optimum facility and resource changes needed to comply with the new NRC DBT requirements.

Extensive experience in application of an assessment tool developed at Sandia National Laboratories, gives us the special capability to determine probabilities of detection, interruption, neutralization, and system effectiveness. Our experience extends to non-nuclear facilities, which allows our team to bring an important outside perspective as we perform an assessment.

Information Security

Penetration Testing
Polestar's team of experts can perform a variety of hostile attacks on the client's network just like those that a real external intruder would attempt. This includes exploiting holes in firewalls, human failures, trojans, and a variety of other techniques. Penetration testing identifies main points of vulnerability to external attack.

Security Audits
Often companies develop a false sense of security from installing a strong firewall while having weak systems internally. This can leave much sensitive company data available to those with network access. Weak internal security can contribute to vulnerability to external attack, can lead to theft of trade secrets or embezzlement by employees, and can result in liability for privacy violations. Polestar Information Security Audits review security plans and policies, scan network internally for vulnerabilities, assess hosts for vulnerabilities and perform thorough evaluation of critical systems for compromise.

Remediation
Proper implementation of recommendations from penetration testing and security audits is necessary to establish a high level of security. Polestar's expert team understands the effective defenses that can eliminate security vulnerabilities, and knows how to apply them.
