Company History

Polestar was founded in 1992 by Jack DeVine, Dave Leaver, and Ed Rumble (retired), long-time colleagues who shared a wealth of experience in nuclear technology and power engineering. The company, headquartered in Los Altos, California initially focused primarily on private-sector nuclear power engineering services. In 1998, Polestar added a small office in Boston, Massachusetts specializing in strategic analysis, economic assessment and communications. In 1999, an office was opened in Richland, Washington serving the U.S. Department of Energy in facility deactivation, decommissioning and environmental remediation. The Polestar technical staff now numbers more than 55, with offices in six locations across the United States. The company provides nearly half of its services to private sector clients, and half to public sector clients.

We offer outstanding professional capability and experience in such areas as management support and technical planning, change management, nuclear safety and risk analysis, security planning and testing, nuclear facility deactivation and decommissioning, spent nuclear fuel storage and handling, financial and economic analyses, and communications services.
