JOHN P. HAYFIELD, JR., Principal and Chief Operating Officer for Polestar Applied Technology, Inc. responsible for the overall management of company operations including Polestar's five offices (Richland, WA; Boston, MA; Los Altos, CA; Portsmouth, NH; Oak Ridge, TN).

Additionally, John is a recognized technical expert in the field of nuclear facility deactivation. For the past six years, he has helped formulate and been a field lead for the Department of Energy's (EM-20) National Facility Deactivation & Decommissioning Initiative (NFDI). NFDI seeks to accelerate deactivation, decommissioning and overall cleanup of DOE sites across the nation.

During his tenure with NFDI, John has provided technical consulting and assistance to most of the major deactivation/decommissioning projects in the DOE.

John brings over fifteen years of engineering and operations experience at DOE nuclear material processing facilities to his clients. His experience spans much of the weapons production cycle including chemical dissolution of nuclear fuel, solvent extraction separation of special nuclear materials, glovebox operations, liquid and solid waste management and shipping, as well as the stabilization, deactivation and decommissioning of former production facilities.

John has led and participated on many independent technical review teams (challenge teams, red teams, blue ribbon panels, etc.). He has added significant value to operating organization and projects by applying his direct experience in leading large, complex organization and implementing business and organization change management.

John resides in Polestar's Richland, WA office and holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University.
